In Standard Cataract Surgery, the eye doctor uses a blade or scalpel to make a small incision in the front of the eye. Then a circular cut in the lens is manually created, then a handheld probe breaks up the cataract and is removed. Finally, a new artificial lens is inserted into the eye.
Outcomes with Standard Cataract Surgery can be excellent, provided that the Cataract is not too advanced in stage and if there is a low amount of pre-operative astigmatism.
To raise the surgical bar even higher, Dr. Mack prefers Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery, enabling his patients to have the opportunity for the best possible outcomes while reducing healing times, and reducing astigmatism.
Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery offers potentially greater precision in certain steps, which can be beneficial for some patients. Using Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery along with Premium IOLs such as Toric and/or Multifocal IOLs can help achieve outstanding results.
